Duncan's strengths include his ability to distil key messages from economic data to generate detailed insight into drivers of local economic development. Duncan is a Certified PRINCE2® practitioner and is primarily based within TBR’s Economic research and Creative sector specialisms, though he is always willing to help out colleagues across the company. Duncan plays a key role in much of TBR’s work for local authorities and sub-regional bodies and is a specialist in conducting detailed sector studies. Duncan is a multi-skilled member of our team with knowledge and expertise in consultation design and execution, data analysis and desk-based research. He has managed projects for a number of local authorities including a key sector growth study for Bedford Borough Council, and creative industry audits for Sheffield City Council and Newcastle City Council.

Duncan’s familiarity with local and sub-regional economic development research is a major asset to TBR and its clients. Duncan is also experienced in the translation of economic evidence bases into useful resources for planning policy units in local authorities, having helped to develop TBR’s groundbreaking model for projecting future demand for employment land (FUTURE SPACE).

Duncan Cobbett joined TBR as a research consultant at the start of 2009. Duncan, who studied economics at Durham University, is currently studying part-time for a MA in Local and Regional Development Studies at Newcastle University. Prior to joining TBR, Duncan worked for Nigel Wright Consultancy, a pan-European provider of recruitment solutions.

In his spare time Duncan attends his local church Christchurch Durham, enjoys playing football and following the mighty Nottingham Forest FC, the last British team to retain the European Cup.
