Anna specialises in the provision of quantitative evidence to support policy and investment decisions. As well as being a director of TBR, she also heads up the TBR Observatory and is responsible for the strategic development of this core resource. Anna’s main role is to ensure that her skills and experience are available to all TBR work (current and developmental) and are transferred to the rest of the team. Her key skills are in the design of research tools, and analysis. This is because she is both a statistician with an intuitive interest in calibrating information in ways that others have sometimes not considered to answer key socio-economic questions and a skilled analyst who understands the strengths and limitations of data. During her time at TBR Anna has led projects across the full range of TBR’s skill base; one notable example is a UK analysis of the sources of job creation (an update of the work on which TBR was founded) that was used as an evidence base for policy development by HM Treasury and the EU. Anna still manages our more complex data focused projects and is often complimented by clients who appreciate her pragmatic approach.

Anna joined TBR full time in 1996 following graduation with First Class Honours from BA (Hons) Management and Mathematics from Brunel University. She has been instrumental in developing the quality and range of our work, since her involvement with TBR, which began with development work on the characteristics of high flying and non-growth firms as a dissertation within her degree. Anna is a Graduate Statistician of the Royal Society of Statistics.
