Renaissance Market Towns
TBR have been selected by Yorkshire Forward as part of a panel of experts for their Renaissance Market Towns project. The background to the project, from Yorkshire Forward, is provided below:
Project Background
Yorkshire Forward is launching a dynamic new approach to regeneration across our region. Drawing upon the success of our internationally recognized Renaissance Towns Model, the Renaissance Market Towns approach ('RMT') is intended to be at the forefront of fresh thinking in securing the long-term future of towns and their rural hinterlands.
Renaissance is about making places where people want to live, work, invest and visit. The RMT approach is about developing each of these elements of renaissance, creating more attractive places where the town centre can drive forward economic growth, and where the wider town and its hinterland can benefit from an integrated, planned approach to economic development that derives from that. A substantial element of the renaissance agenda is about the physical look and feel of a place, creating high quality spaces that act as a catalyst for economic opportunity, rather than being a restraint upon it.
We have therefore appointed a Panel of external experts and advisers who can demonstrate strategic vision, forward planning and business acumen who will work with teams from key towns within the region. The combined teams will develop an agreed vision for the long term economic future of the area; a high level masterplan setting out a clear framework for tackling the key issues and identifying strategic projects and finally an agreed action plan for delivering that vision and masterplan.
