Investment & Divestment in the North West of England
This project aims to:
- Develop a greater understanding and allow for monitoring of the key local/regional factors which influence investment and divestment decisions
- Assess the region in terms of attracting investment, and any barriers faced by organisations looking to invest
- Enable benchmarking and thus the strengthening of the regions economic base
- Further the understanding and management of regional supply chains, in turn accelerating new business development
- Identify gaps in skills infrastructure - the causes of job losses or closures.
The primary objectives are to:
- Analyse existing sources of investment, divestment and new employment data in the region, including the strengths and weaknesses - focusing on robustness, timeliness, level of detail and synergy between different sources
- Clearly identify any gaps in available data with regard to regional partners requirements and effective delivery of the objectives and aims of this project
- Agree basis and conduct new research to fill identified gaps
- Review the quality/robustness of the data gathered
- Produce a 'Best Practise' for ongoing data collection, which meets the current needs of regional partners and is both a cost effective and efficient mechanism of delivery.
